Natural Resource Management

A total of 22 villages in ASCS’ operational area depend on a tal (water body). With the objective of social, economic and political development and empowerment of the poor and marginalised fisherman community, a long term plan has been initiated by ASCS. A committee of fisherman community – Machhua Mallah Samiti – has been formed. This committee is being made aware of the socio-political and legal aspects of the tal. The community is being made aware of the environmental aspects of the tal and its implications on the health of the community.

The initiative is supported by the Social Development Institute, New Delhi. About 7,500 acres of area is covered under the tal region. Now the fisherman community and the farmers clean the tal and around 1,200 acre land has been brought under agriculture land and now the farmers are being benefitted out of it.

National Environment Awareness Campaign

Under this campaign ASCS is organising various training programmes to monitor the activities and cleanliness of the municipalities.
