Livelihood Promotion

ASCS has initiated various activities for improving economic status of the community. These include promoting kitchen garden, vegetable growing, goat rearing and pig farming. The marginal farmers are regularly taken on exposure visits and this has resulted in crop diversity in the region.

Entrepreneurship development training on vegetable cultivation, candle making, incense stick making, namkeen making, etc., are regularly organised for the community, leading to capacity enhancement of women and increase in their self-confidence.

SHGs and Income Generation Activities

To increase economic independence among women, ASCS is continuously working on SHG formation and linking them with banks. These groups help the members to meet their daily expenses from their small savings. A revolving fund is being created from the savings of its members. Proceeds from the revolving fund are further used to support the poor and the disadvantaged section of the society.

The organisation regularly holds workshops on bank linkages. The group members are told about the benefits of the group and the income generation activities on which they can get the loan facilities from the bank. The bank officers explain them the criteria of bank linkages and process of loaning. The participants share the problems related to bank.

ASCS takes SHG members on exposure visits to group members engaged in income generating activities and small scale industries like food processing units such as pickle, jam, murabba units, vermicompost, vermiwash, cutting and tailoring, bag making, carpenter shops, etc. The visiting SHG members interact with the group members and get information on the development processes and profit distribution among the group members.

Keeping in mind the environmental balance in the working area, the organisation has been providing training on herbal agriculture as a new opportunity in the field of livelihood promotion. It is also motivating them through seed distribution free of cost.

To stop migration of the people from the villages and to promote the small scale industries, ASCS is encouraging apiculture as a source of livelihood and providing training to the people on its methods and benefits. It has also been providing bee boxes required for apiculture to the participants.
