Health and HIV/AIDS

The organisation has taken initiative to work on community health programme with an aim to improve the health status of the community through awareness building and promoting preventive and primary health programmes at community level. Various health programmes are being organised with support from WLC (World Literacy of Canada). These health camps provide information related to herbal medicine, safe drinking water, sanitation, balanced diet, kitchen garden, nutrition, family planning and preventive health measures.
ASCS is conducting the following activities for the success of the programme:
- Camps for medicine distribution and information dissemination on diarrhoea, hepatitis A and B vaccine, and protective measures.
- Awareness generation on malaria, dysentery, family planning, water infection and seasonal diseases
- Distribution of family planning means such as Mala-D, Mala-N and condom
- Health check-up camps at balwadis
- Survey on issues of vaccination, sanitation, family planning and women awareness in the rural area
- Medicine distribution among community members
- Meetings with guardians on the issue of new born babies
- Meetings on sharing participation of female adolescent with their guardian
- Discussion with the pregnant women on balanced diet, anaemia, water discharge, leucorrhoea, sanitation, etc.
- Awareness campaign on chicken pox and seasonal diseases
- Polio awareness campaign
These activities have resulted in improved family and women health, better access to health services, better maternal care, and increased number of couples practising family planning.
