Social Security

It has been envisaged that without building a better society, real development cannot take place. Hence it becomes imperative to build a social harmony among different social groups and communities.
Funded by CORDAID and supported by HIMOS, social harmony project was a step to build a better society free from communal tensions and riots. In fact a better coordination and support from different groups helped to build a better society.
During the project intervention it has been found that nobody wants to create problems in the society or to be a victim of the social problems, but the problem is that most of the people unnecessarily get involved in the issue. Hence the project aims at bridging the gap between different religions, caste and class and makes the community supportive and cooperative to each other.
ASCS has been carrying out various activities to carry the message of social harmony. These activities included cycle rallies with youth participation; kisan panchayat workshops and citizen leaders training programmes to sensitise the farmers about peace and social harmony and carrying the message from village to village. Participation of farmers, panchayat representatives, BDC members and zila panchayat members is being ensured at these workshops. Citizen leaders are trained on their roles and responsibilities as they can bridge the gap between different religions, caste and class and enable to see a better future where they support and extend cooperation to one another.
The organisation is managing a number of libraries established at gram panchayat levels. The community motivators, who play active role in the community, manage these libraries. These libraries have large number of books and literatures on social harmony and social development. As a result the community people get access to very good literatures written by eminent persons.
