Advocacy

Advocacy forms part of all the activities of ASCS. Mahila Mandals are main vehicle of advocacy. They have quite effectively addressed issues of social, economic and political nature. Issues of improving the drainage systems, electricity, health, bridge repairing, panchayat bhawan constructions, girl education, loan repayment, dowry related issues, violence against women, old age pension, widow pension, BPL listing, drinking water related problems, Indira Awas Yojana, etc., have been addressed.

Strengthening PRIs is an important aspect of advocacy for the people’s rights. To develop perspective of community, sensitisation workshops are being organised on the role of PRI in poverty reduction. During the workshop, issues are discussed and problems are presented in front of the government officials, block pramukh and important stakeholders.

ASCS is organising block level interface workshops to mobilise community level government schemes on behalf of the community. Networking and advocacy meetings with stakeholders and sensitisation linkages are being held with PRIs, teachers, ANM, anganwadi workers, dais, etc., in the selected villages.
